The Japanese Gardens, Durban North: This classical garden is just a short drive from our Durban B&B and is the perfect place to have a picnic or just a peaceful walk. Sunday is a very busy day for the Gardens with locals flocking to enjoy the day.
Umgeni River Bird Park, Durban North: This popular local attraction very literally just down the road from our Durban B&B. The Park is open 7 days a week and is home to a stunning collection of birds. They also have daily bird shows.
Beaches, Durban and Umhlanga: From our Durban B&B you can use Durban's North and South beaches, Umhlanga's beaches are lovely and so are Umdloti's rock pools. By the way Umhlanga beach also has some nice rock pools.
Durban's Golden Mile: Enjoy the many stalls of local arts and crafts. There is also Funworld, a great place to take the kids. Visit Mini-Town a great place for the kids to explore some of Durban's landmarks and the proceeds go to an orphanage.
uShaka Marine World, Durban: just a few kilometres from our Durban B&B is a great place to spend a few days playing in the water park, seeing the dolphin shows and aquariums. Please note that off season specials are available.
Shopping: Our Durban B&B is central to the 3 most popular malls; Gateway Theatre of Shipping in Umhlanga, La Lucia Mall and Westville's Pavilion Shopping Centre. Both Gateway and Pavilion also offer restaurants and cinemas.
An Evening at the Theatre: Our Durban B&B offer private entrances and gate remotes. Why not use this for an evening visit to one of Durban's 12 or so theatres. The Catalina, The Elizabeth Sneddon, The Courtyard Theatre and Dockyard Theatre a just a few offer anything from comedy, musicals and dramas.
Durban Botanical Gardens: The oldest botanical gardens in Africa, Here you can see the best of Africa's flora. They also have music nights that have become a mainstay of local culture.
Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World, Durban: Suncoast offers not only gambling but entertainment which includes shows, movies and restaurants. A good night out and very close to our B&B.
Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban: The stadium was built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and is a major tourist attraction. Just a short drive from our B&B, you can take a sky ride to the roof of the stadium. Have a coffee and lunch. There is a Virgin Active Gym there and you can event rent skates, a bike, a cart or a Sedgeway to explore Durban's seafront.
Mitchell Park Zoo, Durban: This is a great place to visit and spend a very entertaining few hours. The zoo has Black-capped squirrel monkey, Cotton-top tamarins, Meerkats, Suni, Suricate, Ground squirrels, Banded mongoose, White-eared marmoset, Raccoons and a wide selection of birds. Admission is R10.00 for an adult and R7.00 for children.
